It’s not basketball. It’s not football. It’s wheelchair rugby — a unique Paralympic sport created by athletes with quadriplegia.

About Wheelchair Rugby

Invented in 1977 by athletes with quadriplegia, wheelchair rugby is now a Paralympic sport played in over 40 countries. Teams of four battle to carry a ball across the goal line — smashing, blocking, and spinning past defenders in custom-built rugby chairs.

Athletes use custom-built rugby wheelchairs — some designed for offensive power, others for defensive lock-downs — and smash their way across the court to score. The contact is real. The strategy is brilliant. The determination is unmatched.

Athletes in this championship have the most significant physical impairments allowed in the sport, making every play a display of pure grit, strategy, and teamwork.

Why Come?

Because once you see it, you’ll never forget it. This isn’t an exhibition — it’s the national championship, and these athletes are playing for glory.
